Addressing Gender-Based Digital Violence Against Women and Girls by Strengthening Prevention, Protection and Accountability Mechanisms

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, in short UNWOMEN, is the lead UN agency working for all women and girls around the world. Established 16 years ago in 2010, UNWOMEN is an advocate for rights of women and girls and a leader for coordination between Member States.

In this edition of HUMUN, the UNWOMEN Committee will focus on the agenda item “Addressing Gender-Based Digital Violence Against Women and Girls by Strengthening Prevention, Protection and Accountability Mechanisms”. Although violence against women is still an ongoing challenge in today’s world, with the rapid advancements in the digital age we live in, women and girls are faced with the online reflections and forms of violence. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, UNWOMEN targets to end all forms of violence against all women and girls. Through sustainable policies and strong accountability mechanisms, the delegates of UNWOMEN in HUMUN’26 are tasked with developing measures to prevent gender-based digital violence.
