Committee description:
The Group of Twenty (G-20), founded in 1999 as a response to several global economic crises, is an international forum consisting of nineteen sovereign nations, the European Union and the African Union as official members, which account for 85% of gross world product (GWP), 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population. G-20's initial mission and/or objective was largely to address broad macroeconomic issues, however expanded its agenda, covering topics such as but not limited to international trade, anti-corruption, energy, agriculture, security, health, sustainable development, environment and climate change. Originally, the forum comprised of finance ministers and central bank governors of respective members' nations, eventually upgrading to the level of Heads of State/Government following the 2007 global economic and financial crisis. Since then, the leaders of G-20 have met regularly (if not annually), and the organisation evolved into being the premier forum for international economic cooperation.
HUTRAIN'25's edition of G-20 shall adopt the "2015 Antalya Summit" as the main agenda, which had aimed to discuss and find prominent solutions to tackle security and humanitarian related issues regarding the critical waves of international migration following the peak of the Syrian Civil War in 2015 and ensure that threats to national security through violence & terror are minimalised and eliminated, improvise and contribute towards previously agreed-upon resolutions for sustainable growth and economic prosperity, as well as renewing members' commitments towards continuing to cooperate within various topics, including global trade, employment, safety standards, gender equality and representation of women in the workforce, primacy of education and more.
